Your Dog will Go Crazy for Kong Ballistic Toys

Bailey with his Kong BallisticWith a dog that is part Black Lab and part ... well, lots of things, it's important to provide items to chew on, fetch, play with, and snuggle with. I found all those great attributes in the Kong Ballistic dog toys. While my dog, Bailey, only tried the Large Bone, he really seemed to enjoy the fleecy top, the squeakers in both ends, and the challenge to chew into this toy. He likes to sleep with this bone, cuddle with it, rest his head on it, and place his paw over it while he keeps a watchful eye over the neighborhood. When he's in his active mood (which is 99% of the time), he will toss this bone in the air to catch it, place it on my lap for me to throw it, play tug of war with it, and just sit and chomp on it. My favorite is when he has the bone between his teeth and shakes it really hard. We call that the death rattle, but you may have another word for it.

Tyke with the Kong Ballistic BoneI gave the Kong Ballistic bone to my one of my parents' dogs, Tyke, to try out. He is a hard chomper, and he set about to tear into this dog toy fairly quickly. It was hard to get a picture of Tyke, as he immediately fell for this toy and wanted to have it all to himself. He doesn't normally get possessive over a toy or dog treat unless he really likes it. This was one of those "really" liked toys! Bailey had the toy for about a week or so when Tyke got his jaws on it. Tyke was able to rip through a small section of the fleecy fabric in his initial chew trial, but he didn't break through to the stuffing. He had another chance at the bone a few weeks later, and he was finally able to break through the double layer of ballistic nylon. However, he didn't rip a hole any bigger than a dime or quarter, and he wasn't able to pull stuffing out. Bailey has the bone back now, and he's still doing his thing with it. He's rough on this toy, but not as rough as Tyke!

Some of the features of the Kong Ballistic line of toys include:

  • Kong Ballistic Dog Toyscovered in a soft fleece material
  • two layers of ballistic nylon, secured with 8 rows of stitching
  • easy on teeth and gums, hard to break through
  • squeakers that are enclosed in individual nylon pouches to prevent damage
  • float in water
  • machine washable
  • for dogs toughest on toys, Kong recommends the Extra-Large Extreme Ballistic Ring, due to a bonus fourth layer for extreme strength

I highly suggest trying this toy out if a) you have a tough chewer, or b) a dog that likes a toy he can both play and cuddle with, without easily destroying it. I'm looking forward to going home this evening to be greeted by Bailey with his Kong Ballistic bone in his mouth. I won't even get a chance to drop my bag before he's ready to play!
