Science Diet Weight Loss System - Think Jenni Craig for Your Dog
Just like humans, many dogs suffer from obesity. In fact, I read that over 33 million dogs in America are at least overweight. While overweight is not obese, being overweight can quickly turn into being obese. While my dog, Bailey, seems to burn 2x the amount of calories he takes in, my other two pups definitely have weight issues. Spice, the oldest of the three at 10 years old, has a thyroid problem. That explains part of her weight, but I know it’s still unhealthy for her to be carrying around extra pounds. For Tyke, well… he just really loves his food and loves being loved after being adopted and returned three times, in addition to living in different foster homes, in his 3 year old life. Finding his forever home is definitely affecting his waist line!
That’s why I’m really excited about a new dog food that just came out on the market. More than just a food, it’s a weight loss system developed just for dogs. Think Jenni Craig or NutriSystem, only this is from Science Diet. So far, Science Diet has seen a 94% success rate in dogs losing weight in as little as 30 days. The food in this system has 30% less fat and 19% fewer calories than Science Diet Adult Advanced Fitness Original Formula. There is both a small breed weight loss system and medium to large breed weight loss system, depending on what your dog's ideal weight should be. Each system includes pre-measured Science Diet Light dry pet food and biscuits. There is also veterinarian feeding recommendations, instructions on how to use the system, and tips on making this weight loss system a success. This Weight Loss System has thought of everything, not just food for overweight dogs.
I know with Spice, reducing her daily food intake has not helped at all with losing weight. It has just made her overly eager for breakfast and dinner times. Trying to supplement her dog food with vegetables, such as green beans, hasn’t worked, either. She is not a veggie girl! If you have tried reducing your dog’s food and the only results you see are a hungry pup, this system might be for you. The Science Diet food not only supplies the daily nutrients needed by your dog, but it is high in fiber so your dog feels full in between meals. The fiber will help control hunger, so you shouldn’t have to deal with those puppy eyes staring at you with hunger. It’s a sad sight!
When you run out of the initial Weight Loss System packages, there are convenient refill food packets and refill biscuit packets you can get so your dog can continue with his weight loss and maintain a healthy weight.
Needless to say, I think I’m going to try this system out. Hopefully, my dogs will have a trimmer waistline in time for spring! That will make going on walks much easier.
Note: Please make sure your dog is also receiving adequate exercise to help lose weight. Changing your dog's food alone will not cure obesity. However, feeding your dog a diet food in addition to going on walks, playing, and running around the yard will ensure your dog is getting the right amount of calories to stay healthy, in addition to burning calories to get rid of fat.
Science Diet is also offering a Mail-In Rebate for dog Weight Loss Systems purchased between 1/1/11 and 3/31/11. Take advantage of this great deal!

I wanted to post an update to my dog's progress. Spice, a 10 year old Husky Chow Shephard and other stuff mix is on the diet still. After seeing some great results using 1 box of the weight loss system, she is on her second box and doing well. She used to hate walks, and now she's prancing along the blacktop like a show dog. She is more willing to run outside, too, so you can see her speeding around the house like a young pup more often than not. After Spice gets down a few more pounds, we'll switch her to Blue Buffalo Weight Management so she keeps her trim figure, and the diet is going to be started with Tyke.
