Winning a Fluval Ebi Shrimp Kit from PetSolutions

We ran a contest where people could comment on facebook why they would like one of the Fluval Ebi Shrimp Kits and what they would do with it. The amount of responses was amazing! Lots of people who already had freshwater shrimp either wanted another tank or else a shrimp-only set up. People who didn't know about ornamental shrimp thought they might be fun to raise. Since the shrimp kit comes with pretty much everything you need to start a shrimp-only aquarium (except the shrimp!), it is a great way to get people started in the hobby.

The contest ran from  4:30 PM EST on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, until 4:30 PM EST on Wednesday, February 8, 2012. After 441 comments, we randomly picked a winner using random.org.

Thank you to everyone for participating. It was great to read your stories, your thoughts, and your jokes regarding wanting to own freshwater ornamental shrimp and a shrimp-only aquarium. One of my personal favorite comments was a guy who said he wanted the aquarium so he could drink cocktails while watching his shrimp, rather than cocktail sauce while eating his shrimp. After I responded that the little guys were very tiny to make a meal and were too cute to eat, he came back with the thought that size doesn't matter to real shrimp. Another funny response was a lady who said she needed another tank, as her current one was run over with java moss and Red Crystal Shrimp. I responded that I heard owning ornamental shrimp is like having tattoos - once you have one, you want more. It must be true, as she said she had 19 tattoos and counting!
